History

This website was first launched on the 1st of August 1998. It was called 'Portmore.org'. We hare been the number-one Portmore site on Google and Yahoo for many years, and receive over 20,000 unique visitors annually. The site is designed and owned by Kennedy Reid in partnership with Janette Clarke and Sheryl Reid. All content and photographs are copyrighted to Kennedy Reid and may be used for non-profit purposes only.

The purpose of Portmore.info is to inform the Internet public about the Municipality of Portmore in Jamaica. The municipality is located on the south east coast of the island of Jamaica in the Caribbean. Modern Portmore was started over 40 years ago mainly as residence for the people of Kingston and Spanish Town (adjacent cities). In 2003 the community of Portmore was granted municipal status in recognition of the fact that the community had grown to become a city all of its own. In the last census, there were 170,000 persons in the city.
