Portmore Municipal Budget 2004/2005 ############################################################ Report on the Public hearing of the Portmore Municipal Budget 2004/2005 Portmore Lions Civic Center February 5, 2004 Host: Deputy Mayor Fagan SUMMARY of Major Items only... * The Total Municipal budget is $152,270,292 (subsidized) * Projected inflow Property Tax = 38,138,655 * Projected inflow Motor Vehicle Licenses = 36,730,232 * Projected inflow Trade Licenses, Barbers, Bill boards, etc. = 918,300 * Projected inflow Market Fees = 2,100,000 * Projected expenditure Solid Waste = 30,000,000 * Projected expenditure Street Lights = 24,000,000 * Projected expenditure Road Maintenance = 27,884,186 Mayor Lees Presentation * The Mayor wants the next budget to be much larger next year. * At the end of February there will be a Public Education Program. to inform residents of the Budget and codes to be enforces. (zoning, building, etc.) * At the end of March there will be a major enforcement drive. * Business places will be encouraged to help with the cleaning of the community as a clean and friendly environment adds to the bottom line. * Citizens are urged to become more involved in the "dialog" and allow "Portmore to become the greatest city of all". Dubbed - The Olympics of the Performing Arts - WCOPA is organized annually by the World Association of Talent, Modeling and Entertainment (WATME), and will be held this year at The Burbank Hilton Hotel & Convention Centre in Hollywood, California, August 6 -15, 2004. The Performing Arts Olympics is the only meet to have the highest caliber of judges from the entertainment industry judging the finals! Among the judges confirmed for this year’s event is none other than Disney’s head of Talent Development .. Jamaica’s own Anna and Samantha Strachan (sisters), In 2003, copped the coveted overall World Title -Grand Champion Performer! from a field of 42 countries, as well as winning the “Champion performer – Duet” title. This was the first time in the history of the competition that first-time entrants walked away with the overall title .. an indication of the talent we have right here in Jamaica. Local auditions will be held in Kingston on Saturday, March 6 at the Centre Stage Theatre between 10:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. with Final Cut auditions at the same venue and time on Saturday, March 27. Attempts are also being made to hold auditions in Mandeville and Montego Bay at venues to be announced upon confirmation. Auditions will be held in the disciplines of Dance, Vocal, Modeling, Acting, Comedy (SENIORS ONLY), Bands, Instruments, and Variety .
