Apology - Webmaster ############################################################ Dear Paul of South Africa.... Please accept my apology for respoding in the way I did in the last newsletter. Webmaster. ############################################################ 2. Apology Needed - JH ############################################################ From: JH Date: Wed, April 21, 2004 10:01 am To: Hello Kennedy: How are you? Hope all is well. I am writing on two fronts. First, about the newsletter. Thanks for including me on your mailing list. In the latest edition I received this morning, there was a mail from Paul who accesses the Portmore website from South Africa. Paul made a constructive criticism (even though he did not expound to provide specifics) about the website and its layout and in response to this your webmaster replied with "Baaahh." I think that was very puerile. Even if the webmaster disagrees, s/he can do so in a more professional manner. I am sure you want your newsletter to be accepted as credible and not classified as junk, therefore, I think it is incumbent upon the team to present themselves in like fashion. I think an apology should be made in the newsletter and ask Paul to expound further on his critique and possibly offer suggestions on how to improve the website. This could also lead to a competition on who can submit the best layout/design for a new and improved website. Personally, I have not seen the website so I am not in a position to comment either way, but I still think constructive criticism should be handled in a more responsible manner. Secondly, do you [ section deleted] I look forward to your response. JH -------------- [] RESPONSE [] -------------- Dear JH, Sincere thanks for reminding me to be more mature! You are right about apologising and I have apologised to Paul above. By way of a poor excuse... I did compose a more "rational" answer to Paul, but alas mi did real upset with him. You see, Paul was partly right... I do need to improve the presentation of the site. On the other hand he needed to have appreciated the five years of hard work, thousands of dollars spent to maintain the site, the 400 pictures, the 100 MB of information. This is more that 90% of most Jamaica sites! Instead, Paul said "Portmore has alot more to it than that". Can you imagine!... and I don't make a cent off all this effort! So you see my dear JH, "baaaah" was all I could think of! It saved me from a lot more choice expressions and was the best sardonic comment I could find to fully sum my frustration.... while being somewhat humorous... or so I thought! Ironically, Paul did not see the newsletter. (laugh) Newsletter readers need to know that when I am writing my comments, there is normally a grin on my face and a smile in my heart.... don't take life too seriously please! While serious matter are dealt with herein this is a seriously light hearted effort... and plans to say that way. Anyway,... mi real sorry Paul! ***AdVT.******************************************** *** *** *** Lees Fifth Avenue *** *** *** *** 'Visit us online at' *** *** http://www.leesfifthavenue.com/ *** *** *** *** *** ********************************************ADVT.*** ############################################################ 3. Heroine, hipocrites, homosexuals - whycke-andre spence ############################################################ From: "whycke-andre spence" Subject: Heroine, hipocrites, homosexuals To: portmore_newsletter-owner@yahoogroups.com Hi Kennedy, Having read the last two letters I must add a word. I do not think that FAST is saying that the police officers should be thrown in jail at the drop of a hat, but that the system should be fair and consider all citizens as being innocent until proven guilty. Many reported and unreported incidents of power abuse and misuse occur daily, this state of affairs needs to be reduced and ultimately stopped. An officer being locked up for abuse of a tourist while one accused of shooting a citizen is allowed to continue work while investigations are conducted - imbalance, double standard, shortsightedness. I must use this medium to add a word about the way Minister Portia Simpson was reportedly treated after abstaining from a vote in parliment recently, I think that the Party members are within their right to be annoyed with her. She is also within her right to abstain. The wrong is the way it was dealt with - NO class. 'Shouting and finger pointing' in the eye of the Public press. The Party can disagree but there are ways of doing things and the nations leaders need to set the example of non violence in settling issues. Two letters back comments were made about the possible abuse of a christian mens group. I must add my support to the call for anointed men to unite. It is true that the Jamaican male is marginalised and must now retake his place in the scheme of things. Groups such as the one proposed could go a long way in helping men to come away from the challenges and share, seek support and inspired assistance. it would be the platform for nuturing the lost young men, encouraging new husbands and fathers. Men know the challenges we faced growing up and continue to face each day. Coming away from the females a while - not to often and not too long - can make a positive difference. The FEAR of homosexual labels will make the group a hard sell but through prayer and persistence it will achieve it goals - The infamous LODGE (Freemasons) have persevered despite rumours. Why not a group that wrk for the allmighty? Keep up the good work even if some think the pages are unattractive! In all things give thanks. WHYCKE-ANDRE -------------- [] RESPONSE [] -------------- WHYCKE-ANDRE....you know I agree with you fully! Will comment on these matters later. webmaster ############################################################ 4. Unworthy - Alfred Sangster ############################################################ Mr. Kennedy Reid. Portmore Newsletter I noted the letter from South Africa complaining about your web site. The writer confused content -- and the newsletter has a lot about Portmore -- with presentation (which it is is not, with flashing lights and colour etc.) The confusion was unfortunate and your reply was also unprofessional and unworthy of you. Remember what President Benjamin Frankin said. "Our critics are our friends. They show us our faults". Remind the reader that you do this for free!! Regards and keep it up Alfred Sangster -------------- [] RESPONSE [] -------------- Dear Dr. Sangster, Thanks for you comments and I do think your comments are right on target! Please see my apology to Paul above.
