Dear Kennedy-reid good to see you keeping up the news letter, I intend to attend the demonstration on saturday. however, I am right now in the UK. doing some fatherly duties. You see my daughters husband did not get THE VISA.You know kennedyreid, just keep on defending Jamaica as there is no where else for people like you and me. This [the UK] is an awful cold rundown mixedup messed up place. The[y] just found out and English Doctor who systematically murdered over two haundred patients over many years and yet another who was making money by giving fake immunizations to babies. So Jamaica has to Work and just a word to DC [a contributer in a previous newsletter], do a little more work and you will find the seminal work that Edward Seaga did for this country, That makes him want to cry at this time. take care DR. E.V. Williamson. former caretaker JLP. ******************* Webmasters Comment ******************* Dr. Williamson... good to hear from you too. I was wondering if you were around and getting the newsletters. Why are you "former" caretaker? Last week Mr Seaga (our former leader of the Opposition) bowed out of Jamaican politics after over 40 years of service. This is a signal achievement that we all salute! So much has been said about this great Jamaican that I can add very little. I personally credit him with putting a halt on any communist ambitions in Jamaica, preserving many of our historical sites, and encouraging cultural icons. May he enjoy his retirement. Kennedy Reid. Councillor caretaker PNP. ############################################################ 2. I commend the Portmore Joint - Andrea L ############################################################ From: [Name deleted on request] Date: Fri, 21 Jan 2005 11:50:55 -0500 Hello Kennedy: Thank you for the Newsletter - very informative. As it relates to this peaceful protest on Saturday, 29th, a suggestion... what do you think of asking persons to wear black tops or full black? The significance? "the killing of the route from our homes and the mourning of the denial of an adequate route",(smile). What do you think?? Also, other than this medium, how else will you be informing Portmore residents of the date of this protest? I ask this particular question because prior to being sent this Newsletter I was never aware of the dates of other protests or meetings. (I reside in [address deleted]). And I get the impression (I could be wrong) that a number of persons don't know what's happening. Let me commend the Portmore Joint Citizens Association for the EXCELLENT work it is doing, in terms of the Newsletter being posted on the website; and also the tireless work/effort being done re an alternate route which really must not be Mandella!! Unity is strength...united we stand....the cause is legitimate and one of grave concern....I am therefore on board. Let me, however, conclude by saying, continue to invite God's presence and guidance in the midst of all this...and emphasise the word...PEACEFUL. All the best to the team. Andrea L ******************* Webmasters Comment ******************* Dear Andrea L, I am not the organiser of this protest... suh I have no say, but I can pass your suggestions on to the them... (many already read this newsletter anyway). Even Jesus had to stand up - LC ############################################################ Date: Mon, 24 Jan 2005 From: [Name Deleted] Subject: Protest on Jan. 29 , 2005 To: kennedyreid@yahoo.com Mr. kennedy i think this peaceful protest is a symbolic one and every ''portmoreridian'' should make an effort to participate. I know that church and any other business on that day is important , but just think for a moment if our fore-father's and heroes thought that every other thing or business on a particular day was more important than getting up and standing up for our principles and rights, where would we be now (still in the slave master fields).I hope that the powers that be will have, or grow a conscience and understand that portmore and Jamaica belongs to us all, and a decision to steal our road an create a toll road, without giving us a viable alternative is an act of 'slavery' no dialog with us the citizen just take your whipping and shut your d...m mouth slaves. Even Jesus had to stand up and defend some of his principles at some point in his life. But i guess my hero Bob Marley would say as he turns in his grave "see i tell you, get up stand up for your rights."its better to die for a cause than to live for nothing at all". The more things change, the more they remain the same. NB. I wonder if everybody in portmore who owns a car, gave at least $500.00 to defend this case at the privy council what would be the out come." food for thought". PS. just use my initials. ******************* Webmasters Comment ******************* LC, the idea of a court case has been discussed by the Joint.. I don't know what has become of that idea. Any student of the Bible would see that Jesus was no "gentle Jesus meek and mild!"... he cuss off the leaders of his time, he whipped irreverent street vendors, he voluntarily suffered torture, and fasted and prayed for long hours! Yes, he stood up for the right things many times, but was still loving!! Many persons who are planning to protest will have to stop and think for the first time in their lives... if I stand up will it cost me something...my job, reputation, or even a limb! Jamaicans love to talk, but full a fear... Anyway "fear not"... I do not think the government is deaf to the concerns of the people. This is not the days of slavery and the government was trying to help Portmore by building the road. I hope the road brings benefits to all parties concerned! The builders must make money and we must feel satisfied we have been considered. Let us not get carried away and have a "us against them," attitude. Let us simply make a point of principle and move on! on the idea of slavery... I am currently reading a book about a slave master in Jamaica in 1750s. This was during the height of Jamaica's sugar prosperity! This book brings home the raw choice the slaves in Jamaica faced. Resistance was futile.... If you ran away or resisted you risked starvation in the Jamaican woods, or capture by the Maroons, or mutilation by the whites. If you stayed on the estates, you risked working to an early old age, or complete sexual exploitation (once a girl was of age she was used; even if the master had a disease), or the sale of your family, or being forced to help subjugate your own people. When you read this book you understand why the statues in Emancipation park are such a discredit to the memory of our naked and humiliated fore parents!!! You understand why we are such an aggressive society and why we can no longer see our tribesmen or elders in each other! Let us love again Jamaica.. tone down the aggression! Kennedy ############################################################ 4. I have been held up with knives - DC ############################################################ From: D C Date: Thursday, January 20, 2005 10:14AM Subject: Re: BULK: Re: Action for Jamaica NOW! Rebuttal Mr. Reid... Listen u think I really hate Jamaica or I am creating much ado about nothing. Let me tell you.. before, I have been held up on more than one occasions with knives... little dudes trying to rob me. Well, I overcame the panic and probably pretended that it's no longer serious. I have heard tons of killings on the news and thought this will never happen to me. I have left Jamaica and seen how outstandingly great we as a nation can be... how much potential we have; I have been in the classroom and seen the wretched reality which shapes our youth. Some of this reality, I am positive contribute to menace in society; And as a teacher dealing, struggling and working with these kids, no wonder I have become fatigued, implicated in the matter more and now realised how dramatic violence is. It's not just another issue, it's my concern and everyone's. I agree we all have to die, but it is unfair for another man to take another's life unjustly. It is this act of cruelity that we have to fight. I feel like dying sometimes, but not in this way. I'd prefer to bear life's pain rather than some loser aggressing me when I did him no harm...a loser blaiming me for his sad reality, through the barrel of a gun, a knife when, myself, I am dying and struggling too. Is that fair? We are all in shit. Unfortunately apparently criminals cant realise this. That's why I propose that the more fortunate, the leaders, the intellectuals, the social workers etc do something in order to educate potential (criminals) so that they, in turn, might have a little bit of optimism, social behaviour and tolerance while we all go through hell here on earth. We need to instil in them responsibility for each and everyone's coexistence. You can share this bit of reflection too. It's good to chat with you.... u kno Ciao You can share this with them too. ******************* Webmasters Comment ******************* Ok DC, OK [--------------------THE END OF ENTRIES-------------------] Legal Notices - Please read 1.
