Thank you for writing to me and tolerating my alter ego. I mean you were so nice not to take seriously my "jokes", bad henglish, an "typing" errors! Without your support it would all be .... well... something else. Please do continue to send in your news items, promotions, questions and comments. ...... It would be an unjust euphemism to describe 2005 as "challenging"; In fact it literally got on our nerves... didn't it? The year started with a significant segments of Portmore up in arms about the new toll road. They were then defeated in the courts. In the middle of the year we were beset by hurricanes and flooding and eight hour traffic jams to Portmore! At the end of the year we were hit by gas price hikes which wiped out our little incomes. Christmas was cashless for many! My sincere prayer for 2006 is that we will all have a less eventful new year. Anyway best wishes for the holidays family and all. On a different note though Kennedy it is that time of year (Christmas) when car jacking is on the increase in portmore. The other day i was driving home from work and just as i drove into my drive way and locked my gate, i noticed a maroon green Toyota station wagon motor car driving slowly bye, with four suspicious looking men inside the car, as i locked up my car ,i notice my neighbor across the street also securing her car which was parked outside her gate. Just then the green Toyota motor car came back down the street and stopped below my neighbor's gate the men in the car were watching her. I was on my veranda watching them too , luckily for her she went into the house quickly. The favor i would like to ask of you Kennedy is that could you contact the police stations in portmore (or any crime protection agencies) and solicit from them about 10 Tips On How To Prevent Car Jacking. And if you accomplish this task could you please post this information (with contact numbers) on your website. Remember the saying "For Evil to Succeed, it would Be Because, A Few good Men Did Nothing" . LC ...................... WEBMASTER'S REPLY ....................... WEBMASTER'S REPLY ....................... Mr. Mundell, There is one advertising package which covers ads in the newsletter and on the website. It cost a low $500 Jamaican per month In other words, for 16 dollars per day your product is seen by 30 - 50 persons per day and it is advertised in every newsletter which goes out to over 200 REGISTERED readers. To start the process is erasy, just send me the infromation and pictures via e-mail and I will place the ad. If you like it, then you pay for 6 months (or a year's ads space). Is that easy or what? Earthquake predicted for Jamaica - Maria Austin ############################################################ ate: Thu, 8 Dec 2005 18:33:50 +0000 (GMT) From: "maria austin" Subject: prophecy for Jamaica re coming earthquake To: webmaster@portmore.org I am a member of the National Intercessary Network Of Jamaica for years now. I am presently living in Britain but I am still on the prayer chain for pray for Jamaica every Friday 1pm tp 2pm . God gave me a very concerning prophetic Word early October 2005 which I have been relunctant to release however I called National Intercessary Network Of Jamaica and left a message on Maria Habijon's ( Head of NIPNJ ) voice mail. I will always love Jamaica as I grew up in Jamaica with my father who was Jamaican . Please note this earthquake cannot be diverted as disasters have done in the past Jamaica's cup of iniqiuty is now full and flowing over with the daily ruthless murders and oppressive acts to the poor of the land. However out of this disaster will come forth healing and restoration to Jamaica God's beautiful PARADISE IN THE SUN. Pray for God's mercy in His Judgement and prepare your Churches for a Great catch of Fish ( souls of men). From Your Sister in Christ, Maria Austin ...................... WEBMASTER'S COMMENT ....................... Dear Sister, Of course you must be aware that Jamaica is in an earthquake zone and that this prediction will no doubt come true sooner or later! Jamaica has always been a very wicked place. The Spanish destroyed all the native Jamaicans and then imported kidnapped Africans to clear the land. When the English stole the island from them, they used the island as a place from which to rape, murder and raid other settlements in the Americas! So no wonder the great Port Royal Earthquake of 1690s could be seen as The "wrath of God!". But the English did not repent therafter, so I wonder if we will either! For most of the 300 years the British infested this island, the place was so wicked that the island was constantly in a state of alarm or marshal law. They built a slave society and exported the subsequent wealth to build estates in England. The island was in a constant state of slave revolts, maroon marauds, French incursions, and vagabond behavior by disillusioned whites. Even after the "Jamaicans" were forced to free the slaves in 1834 they let them go without a penny or pension. The masters were compensated for their loss! What a wickedness! They even tried to pass laws keeping the Negroes on the estates. Since the majority of Jamaicans were "blackies" and an underclass they illegally murdered over 400 people in the 1865 riot. for the next 100 years the whites had the better lands, better jobs, better opportunities, and better education. Now that was a wicked Jamaica! The Majority "blackies" were expected to skin teeth while the others sought to retire to England in luxury. Now was that wicked or what? The start of world war 2 most of the families that had been here for hundreds of years were back in the British Isles. Now for modern Jamaica mix over-population, Urbanisation, Political polarisation, Migration, Unemployment, and "Miseducation" and you get.... a WICKED JAMAICA!!! What's my point... well, the hearts of men are [Always] desperately Wicked and I fear that another earthquake will only bring temporary change! Jesus is reported to have said that this wicked generation only looking for “signs”. Therefore let us work for a permanent heart change in Jamaica. See yah after the quake… I hope… By-di-way...do you happen to hear a word about my survival? Jus kidding, jus kidding…. "Emancipation Park" for Portmore - Gailon Wisdom ############################################################ Subject: Suggestion from Citizen Date: Thu, 8 Dec 2005 15:26:00 -0500 From: "Gailon Wisdom" To: webmaster@portmore.org Good day After seeing the development of Emancipation Park in Kingston, and saw the impact & importance that it made to its surroundings, made me crave for City of Portmore to have its own, a much larger one. We have a lot of space to erect a public park, but the ideal location I saw is the land in front of the Portmore Mall. Reasons why: (1) Its central location (all public transportation in Portmore passes that route.) (2) Its proximities to Shopping Centers, Banks &, Financial Institutes, Schools, Fast food Restaurants, Bakery, Supermarkets, Book stores and other types of businesses. (3) Main road, Proposed Highway 2000 (4) Public Transportation (Buses & Taxis) (5) It would be a great attraction for Portmore as that area is Portmore’s most commercial area and after existing the causeway it would be one of the first sites to attract people. A possible name would be the “Sunshine Park” since we are already known as the “Sunshine City” (6) Then this Park can be the venue for our Portmore Festival Week & any other events. It can be built with an entertainment centre and jogging trails & possible a gym. I know a lot of persons who live in Portmore & do jogging at Emancipation Park, but with our own, we can now do such activity somewhere closer to home. The Municipality of Portmore is currently under a lot of development with roads, housings & businesses. Please let it not developed without having a park, I would love to show-off on those who don’t live in Portmore. Thank you very much. PORTMORE RESIDENTS PLEASE LISTEN! The land of which Gailon speaks was already designated by the UDC to be a park. In fact there was a news conference on the matter. Once there was even land allocated for Municipal lots. Now be warned Portmore... The UDC is selling off these lands bit by bit each year.... Right under wi nose. The land was OFFICIALLY slated to be a PARK and now commercial establishments are going up! Mr. Mayor we need to talk out!! I say no more. Who is your "Dream" Prime Minister? - K. Reid ############################################################ IN 2006 Jamaica will have a new Prime Minister. Our present PM, the Most Hon. P. J. Patterson, has indicated that he will retire in 2006. His political Party, the PNP, is therefore getting set to select a new leader and Prime Minister for Jamaica. In this matter the party is allowing a conscience vote. What they have decided is that selected party members (called delegates) will be called upon to attend a special conference at which senior members of the party will contend for their vote to assume the top post. So far there are 4 contenders. Everywhere I go people ask me... "who you carrying Kennedy?" I suppose they think I either have a vote or have some inside knowledge. Sorry guys... I don't have a vote and do not have any "insider" status. (Plus, party protocol would prevent me from speaking out if I did have a party secret). Therefore I can only speculate like the rest of Jamaica. Everyone knows I think Omar would be a real great prime minister. He does know the economy and has strong international credibility. The Arroance that speak speak of is to me only the confidence that EVERY finance miniter had better exude... or the economy would buckle! On the other hand the poor gentlemen needs to have a booming economy to show for all his years in office and Jamaica has not had that since the 1740s and 1940s. So, his "winability" may be high on the minds of delegates. The next choice in my mind is the big man himself...Peter Philips. From what I gather he's a good man for the job. He has the confidence of the other leaders and is the only candidate who can radically reform the PNP. He only draw back is the impression that he is all about maintaining the status quo. He never says anything 'wrong'... that calls his fellows to new heights and I sense that most Jamaicans want a new PNP. We want a Prime Minister that speaks outside for “right” and who will send the corrupt to prison and the incompetent packing! Most people are sure that Portia will be an inspiring Prime Minister and one can feel the excitement about her. In hard times we, the poor people, want someone like she in our corner! One major concern about her is that she has not yet disproved the accusation that she lacks intellectual prowess. We should always be careful when a leader is not supported by other leaders; they know her best! Anyway, If the beloved Portia wins the top post, she would be forced to call an early general election before the public fascination with her wears off! And knowing Jamaicans, it won't take long. Finally there is the doctor from the West.. From what I can pick up he is loved by his party but distrusted by the rest of Jamaica because of his handling of the Housing Ministry issue. What I have experienced of him is that he is a reformer and moderniser. One could hear and feel the differnce at the Minitry of Water and Housing when he was leading it. Of course this is all SPECULATION and CONJECTURE on my part designed to solicit your opinions. We all need to dream of a better Jamaica and it starts with great leaders. Whomever gets the nod will need support... for Jamaica's sake. To me a great Prime Minister (PNP or JLP) would be one who understands the economy and sets clear, communicable and attainable goals. He would be an unequivocal communicator of good values. Personally, I would love her to remove from the books that offensive law forcing defendants to tell the police their alibi. She would also immediately roll back the Prime Minister’s pension regime recently approved by Parliament. I have nevre seen people more upset at the Parlimentarians on the matter; including hard core PNP supports! My ideal Prime Minister would radically reform our legal system. Replacing "Station Books" with terminals to databases. Replacing the Resident Magistrate's note takinbg (which allows them to execute one case per day of the 25 they assigned!!! My God, the poor people of this island stay in prisons for months and years waiting for trials! ) with digital recording devices! I believe that the Chief Justice should be appointed by a vote of peers and not by a politician; thereby ensuring that we have the brightest and the best at the top. Need I say more... Finally, my beloved Prime Minister would rid us of the British Queen! I blame the PNP and JLP for this matter...Can you imagine the sons of ex-slaves freely swearing to support the British! Those monsters who kidnapped and killed so many of our parents? I'm looking forward to the New Prime Minister in 2006! Please write back and tell me what YOUR ideal Jamaican Prime Minister would be.
