On one occasion I called the Municipal Office about a large billboard near to Petcom, with women who were virtually naked, only to be told that the sign was probably paid for. I then asked if that was the only criteria for persons wishing to erect billboards in Portmore or Jamaica for that matter. It cannot be that as long as you have money, anything goes. We need to have standards for ourselves, our community and our nation, and these signs are totally unacceptable. CitiZen" portmore_tollinfo@yahoo.com Subject: Re: Portmore E-newsletter : Highway2000's September test To: portmore_newsletter-owner@yahoogroups.com It would be interesting to here the comment of the write now that we see the congestion on the road. As a christian, God teaches us to be our Brothers keepers. Not to entertain or encourage evil. This 'development' as it is called is filled with evil, and to say, 'we need to be thankful' is really missing the point. We need to raise our level of expectation and stop taking hand out. Shouldn't we expect the Governement to provide adiquate roads? Shouldn't we expect the Gov. to be open and honest with the people? Imagine, they promised easy travel to and from our homes at a cost, however, the traffic has not imporved, however, they expect you to pay. Wake up and stand up for something. Do not settle for nothing less than the best. Regards, ======================== WEBMASTER'S CONTRIBUTION ======================== Most interestingly, last week Sheryl and I came across a most obnoxious female Pastor who told us she prayed against the Portmore citizens. She insisted that we should obey the God appointed government and we should even be paying more! She would not even listen to my counter argument. She felt WE were being evil! Boy, everyone has a perspective on evil. Only God knows for sure who is what, so let's leave that alone... I wonder what the other readers of this newsletter have found? Are they saving gas or has the Highway made things worst! I saved 1/2 tank of gas last week and didn't arrive at work late once! As you know I use the Mandela in the evenings but last week on two occasions I had to turn away and ended up on the Highway! Traffic was horrific on the "alternate route". Yes, I HATE being trapped into using a private Highway, but thank God there are benefits. I would be less than honest if said otherwise. Kennedy ==================================================== Sister P's Tongue Lashing - Patrick Davidson ==================================================== Date: Sun, 24 Sep 2006 17:21:27 From: "patrick davidson" keitonpat90@yahoo.com Subject: Tongue Lashing To: webmaster@portmore.org Good day webmaster, Sister P [Prime Minister Portia Simpson-Miller] gave us a good tongue lashing today at PNP confrence today, in my view, i think she has some good points for country but i think quite a bit of her time was on personal matters. As the PM she need to spend less time on personal issues and focus more on the big picture. She even spoke of some plans her government has for the country and said that no other administration has ever done that, but it is only a plan, and should not be lauded until the actual thing happens. On the Portmore highway subject, the toll road seem to work at particular times, thanks to those who boycott, can u imagine if there were no boycotters, they would have to dump some more of the sea for two more lanes. I am happy to hear the improvement work will commence on Mandella highway as that is the route i use 95% of the time. Patrick ======================== WEBMASTER'S CONTRIBUTION ======================== Patrick, That is Sista-P for you! :-) Well it seems the boycot ended this morning as the traffic line started from well before the bridge! Today, I was late for work. As I said before, one MUST get to the highway before 7:00 a.m. to get any advantage.
