THE CONTANERS ARE GONE!
Let me be the first to congratulate the St. Catherine Parish Council for Impounding the shipping containers scattered in our community. We are VERY happy and grateful. Thanks goes to the Secretary manager for acting! Sell the containers quickly to recover your costs and punish the conscienceless owners. Special thanks goes to Councilor George Lee - who was 100% behind us!

We are still demanding that:
1. We demand that the Ministry of Housing relinquish control of Greater Portmore and that the St. Catherine Parish Council immediately and unconditionally take full responsibility for the community.
2. We call on the Ministry of Finance to immediately improve budgetary allocations for the community, especially since we contribute so much to the tax pool.
3. We demand that the Parish Council enforce the building covenants, and ensure that Developers correct construction faults.
4. We demand a more transparent system of government land sale, and formal procedures for community consultation.
5. We call on the government to create an effective Municipal Authority that gives residents better management and control of their affairs.

THE PRISONS
No one can not deny that our justice system needs attention. We should be ashamed that our prisoners live in sub-human conditions. I support hanging, but how can we hang people convicted by a system that none of us trust?
Then, did you hear that ridiculous "no note-taking" ruling handed down by the judge looking into the Prison Riot?
With judges like those we might well keep looking to England for justice!

THE TREES ARE GOING!…..
Do you remember those trees on the land by the 100 man police station? Those just opposite Portmore Pines? Well the owners are about to develop the land and to cut (some) trees. We are saddened that someone with vision, money, or clout could not have Saved a natural land reserve area for the people of Portmore.
Where are the dreamers of our generation who plan for the future? Who will build another Hope Gardens, or a Castleton gardens, or a Devon House? Who will design a Central Park in the middle of our concrete jungle! Rescue us someone!, anyone!
We anxiously wait to SUPPORT you.

GREATER PORTMORE JOINT COUNCIL

Additionally, please note that on the last Saturday of July we shall be having a Community Retreat to discuss plans for Greater Portmore.
